The headlight flickered.
A tide of panic began to rise inside James, burning despite the cold walls pressing against his body. Each consecutive breath felt further constricted by the hard rocks.
Another flicker.
He had set out to chart the cave but at this point he couldn't even tell how long he's been underground. Forever crawling forward, the passage too tight to turn or go back. And now his gear was starting to fail.
James's helmet scraped against the roof of the cave as he struggled to tilt his head and look ahead.
Flicker, then darkness.
